GoodLife Beef FAQ

Because knowing where your beef comes from—and how it gets to your table—matters.

Where is your beef raised?

All of our Angus cattle are born and raised right here on our family farm, Double O Farms, in Sutton, Nebraska. Our herd spends late spring, summer, and fall on our pastures south of our home place in Jewell County, Kansas, where the grass is lush and expansive, the perfect place for our herd to graze and grow. Our family has been raising quality beef for decades and every animal is raised with care, faith, and integrity.

Do you raise your own cattle?

Yes! We personally raise our herd from birth to harvest. That’s what makes GoodLife Beef different, we’re not middlemen. We’re the farmers and ranchers who grow the crops, feed the cattle, and ensure every step meets our standards.

What makes your beef different?

It all comes down to intentional care and time.

  • Great genetics: Our herd’s bloodlines have been fine-tuned for decades to deliver a docile herd with consistent marbling, tenderness, and exceptional flavor.
  • Extended finish: Our cattle are finished for 120+ days, allowing for ideal fat development and rich, buttery texture.
  • Extended dry age: We dry age every carcass for a minimum of 28 days to deepen flavor and create the tenderness that sets our beef apart.

Every decision we make, from breeding to feeding to aging, is designed to create the kind of beef we’re proud to feed our own family—and yours.

What breed of cattle do you raise?

Our herd is primarily Angus, but we’ve introduced a touch of Wagyu cross genetics to enhance marbling and deliver a truly melt-in-your-mouth experience. The result is tender, flavorful beef with beautiful consistency from cut to cut.

Do you use hormones or antibiotics?

Our cattle are never given growth hormones. We don’t routinely use antibiotics, but if an animal does get sick, we believe it’s our responsibility to treat it humanely. Those beef would be safe to consume after the proper withdrawal period, but we do ensure that beef is removed from our direct-to-consumer program.

Is your beef grass-fed or grain-finished?

All cows are grass fed! Truly! All cows spend a majority of their life on pastures just like ours. Our cows spend most of their lives on grass and we choose to finish them on a balanced ration of alfalfa hay and grain to create that rich marbling and flavor our customers love.
COMING SOON: We will offer a Turnip-Finished Beef option that’s 100% grass-fed and never has grain in its diet.

What does “dry aged” mean?

Dry aging allows natural enzymes to tenderize the beef and concentrate the flavor. We dry age every carcass for at least 28 days, resulting in rich, buttery flavor and exceptional tenderness in every bite.

How is the beef packaged and shipped?

Every cut is vacuum-sealed for freshness, labeled, and flash-frozen before shipping. We pack your order in an insulated box with dry ice so it arrives frozen and ready for your freezer.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes! We proudly ship to all 50 states, directly from our Nebraska farm to your doorstep. Shipping rates vary by region and are calculated at checkout.

Can I pick up my order locally?

Absolutely. If you’re near Sutton, Nebraska, you can select local pickup at checkout, and we’ll coordinate a pickup time right here at the farm.

How long will my beef last in the freezer?

Vacuum-sealed beef will maintain peak quality for about 12 months in a deep freeze—but between us, we’ve found beef from years past at the bottom of our freezer and eaten it with no problem at all. Properly sealed beef stays safe and delicious far longer than you might think.

Is your beef USDA inspected?

Yes — all of our beef is processed at a USDA-inspected facility to ensure safety, quality, and consistency.

Do you offer bulk beef (quarters, halves, or wholes)?

We do! We offer whole, half, and quarter beefs, which are a great way to stock your freezer and save.
Pricing is based on the hanging weight of the animal, and the customer pays the processing fee directly to the butcher. Availability varies throughout the year, so check our Bulk Beef page or join our email list for upcoming restocks.

How do I cook frozen beef or thaw it safely?

The best way to thaw beef is in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours. For quick thawing, place sealed packages in cold water. Safe handling instructions can be found on every piece of beef you buy from us!

Do you offer subscriptions or recurring orders?

We’re working on it! Join our email list or follow us on Instagram to be the first to know when we launch our beef box subscriptions.

How can I contact you?

You can reach us anytime at hello@goodlifebeefne.com or through our Contact page. We love hearing from our customers and are always happy to help!
